The Rise of AI Checkers in Competitive Esports

We have started to see a transition in the Esports industry.  This involves the integration of artificial intelligence within the industry.  One of the more noticeable options that Esports have been using is an AI Checker.  This was originally implemented to analyze gameplay to see how teams train, how tournaments are overlooked, and coaching data about the audience to see what they felt about different parts of the Esports programming.

What is an AI Checker?

Before you dive too much deeper into this conversation let’s talk about what an AI Checker is.  This is a piece of artificial intelligence that is designed into a system that can automatically review footage of gameplay.  This will review stats and player Behavior so that it can  provide real-time feedback faster and more accurately than human beings could.

While this technology is often used to detect if someone is breaking a rule within the industry; it can also be used to enhance the gameplay as a whole.  Since Esports can be highly competitive and the winner or loser of an event could come down to a few seconds this AI Checker can determine who is the real winner with more accuracy than the human eye could.

Encourages Fair Play

One of the most significant reasons why using an AI Checker in Esports makes sense is because it is a way to encourage fair play.  Since there are many prize pools in Esport  tournaments that often get into the millions of dollars there is pressure to do well with each of your games which means cheating can come into play.

For example AI Checkers could determine if someone is using assistance with hacking tools or other programs that allow  a player to have an edge on their opponents.  AI Checkers are able to determine if someone is firing faster than a human being could possibly do it which would be a trigger to set up the AI checker to determine if artificial intelligence hacks were used within gameplay.

If it is determined  that the players cheated on some level the AI Checker can report back to the person overseeing the game and then allow the player to face the consequences of utilizing hacking methods or other tools not allowed within the Esports tournaments.

Improved Coaching

This piece of technology isn’t just used to catch cheaters, it can actually be used to help with professionally trained environments.  This means that AI can create really good environments for the team members within different tournaments to learn how to work together more efficiently and this program could provide really good coaching tips to the coach to help the team work better.

AI checkers can create decisions and team rotations that make sense based on each player’s skill set and what the AI Checker determines after watching gameplay during practice with the various teams within the Esports industry.  The stats can then be transferred over to the coach of the team to help them implement a successful gameplay plan for the next tournament.

Real Time Data

Another reason why AI Checkers are often used within the Esports industry is that they can give real-time data to the audience members.  Spectators will no longer have to wait for coaches or the announcer to share data about the game.  Artificial intelligence allows viewers to have real-time data and analytics for the gameplay so they can keep track of where their favorite teams are within the tournament.

As with any new technological advancement, there comes pros and cons with the system.  Some people feel that AI checkers will make us overly reliant on robotic data analysis rather than human analysis which can be a little more logical and emotional.  That balance of logic and emotions is often what we need within any sort of competition,  so we can understand why critics are a little concerned about turning coaching or analytics over to  a strictly artificially intelligent program.

Definitely that but there are some privacy concerns on data because AI Checkers may not have the legal requirements that a human being would have so we do need to know what data it is collecting and saving so that we know the status is secure and not hacked into to favor one team over the other.  Just like an AI Checker can check if a player is cheating, an AI program could be hacked to favor one team over the other.

The best bet with using an AI Checker in Esports is to maintain some level of authenticity, integrity and Trust within the system.  The users and organizers of Esports tournaments need to be honest about how AI tractors are used, what data they are collecting and how that data is stored and utilized so that we can know that our data that is within these AI Checkers is not being sold off to another party to the highest bidder.
