iLogos Game Studios is an international service company from Lugansk. The company invents and improves computer games for the leading game studios. In 14 years on the market, the studio has developed over 400 projects of different genres and styles – from shooters to puzzles and quests. Now the company is working on 29 games: six of them we develop from scratch, the same number we develop, three we port to other platforms, and for the rest we make graphics.

Specifics of the company’s work:

  • Working with world leaders (Sony, EA, Rovio, Disney).
  • Personal contribution to games that are played by millions of people.
  • Trust in expertise, no micromanagement.
  • Flat structure and lack of bureaucracy.
  • The loyalty program for contribution.
  • Charity programs.

The company cooperates only with the major companies which are ready to invest in the serious product. iLogos Game Studios‘ clients are very popular companies in the industry, such as Disney, Nekki, Rovio, Electronic Arts, and Wooga. The specialists of iLogos Game Studios do not take on projects cheaper than $300 thousand and with a term of fewer than six months. The company designs products based on research data and analysis of user behavior. This approach is called data-driven design. All updates the studio tests on real players and always keeps track of how many people use them.

Important to know: In 2014, the company faced war for the first time – then a Russian missile hit the Lugansk office. And as of 2022, its largest team was in Kharkiv, which became a hotspot in the first days of the large-scale invasion.

What Outsourcing Companies Do in Game Development

Outsourcing in game mode is often used for standardized tasks – without regard to the business component. That is why there is a stereotype that such studios can only be trusted with low-level, not product-critical projects.

Some outsourcing companies, such as iLogos Game Studios, are trying to get rid of the “asset farm” label and switch to the partnership form of cooperation, in which the customer and outsourcer build a close long-term relationship. For example, it was the outsourced studio that was in charge of combat, optimization, scenario set-up, AI refactoring, and post-release support for Final Fantasy XV.

Advantages of Cooperation With an Outsourcing Company

Generally speaking, the process of an outsourcing company is not that much different from that of traditional studios. Nevertheless, outsourcers do have some advantages:

  • Predictable benefits. Outsourcing studios’ revenues are not dependent on the sales of the games they have developed. And success comes from a single game that took several years to create.
  • It can work on multiple projects in different genres and settings.iLogos has been working on post-release support for Angry Birds 2 on the PC. According to the company’s CBDO Svitlanka Sergiychuk, this allows Rovio to grow its business and expand its audience: the Windows version of the game gives the company 100 thousand daily unique users. This way, developers are not distracted by building expertise on a non-mainstream platform and can spend the freed-up resources on launching new projects.

A company developer can outsource to iLogos Game Studios both a single aspect of post-release support, such as content development, and the full release of updates with analytics and metrics work. Outsourcing is also often used to test new ideas and choose the one that has the best chance of making a shot. For example, iLogos creates full-fledged R&D departments to test prototypes, which helps development studios reduce launch risks.
