Land of War – The Beginning: Is It Polish Call of Duty?

We all like to play online slots real money, but PC gaming offers much more than that. Players who are now in their 30s all remember the days of Call of Duty fondly. When this game series first launched, it was quite different from what it is now. Above all, it had a gripping single-player story. Multiplayer was just a feature and not the main purpose of the game.

There is no game that told World War II from the Polish front. Land of War does exactly that

Today, the Call of Duty series looks like a kind of interactive movie, and it is no longer an old-school shooter. It’s not even about past battles anymore: players are currently fighting with weird weapons “in the future,” and multiplayer has become the only feature that developers take seriously. These days, when most old players are moving away from this series, a Polish studio claims that it will bring back the good old days of classic shooters. This is the promise of Land of War, and it might be good enough to grab your mouse again. So, what exactly does this game promise? You can find the answer to this question in the short analysis below.

Frankly, these are pretty high requirements: even Call of Duty Modern Warfare, for example, can run with 8GB of RAM and a GTX 670. Of course, it doesn’t offer satisfactory performance, but at least it works. Land of War sets the minimum requirements much higher. So, does it offer a game worth it?

Land of War is the first game of MS GAMES, a Polish game studio. It takes place in World War II, and the main character of the game is Piotr Kowalski, a soldier of the Polish Army. Shortly after the German invasion of Poland, our hero becomes embroiled in an intrigue that will determine the fate of his homeland and the entire world.

Gamers have played plenty of FPS based on World War II. As we mentioned above, it was this war that made the Call of Duty series famous. So, can Land of War offer something different in this regard? The developers answer yes to this question, as the game’s historical background offers the following features:

  • There is no other game that focuses on 1939 episodes of World War II. All other games take place in time periods when the war was almost over.
  • There is no game that told World War II from the Polish front. Land of War does exactly that.

So, this is the same war, but this time it is told from a different perspective and from a different time period. As a first impression, the game does a good job in this regard. Both the visuals and the weapons really make you feel like you are in 1939. This is a realistic game. The shooting mechanics are arcade, but it looks pretty authentic.

Both the visuals and the weapons really make you feel like you are in 1939

One of the reasons for this is the graphics quality. The visuals of the game are quite satisfying. By comparison, they are not as good as Call of Duty Modern Warfare, but it would be unfair to compare Activision to an independent Polish studio. Let’s just say that the graphics quality exceeds your expectations, and you will not have any complaints in this regard.

Is It Worth Buying Land of War?

Land of War has just been released, and it doesn’t have a very high price. So, is it worth getting it?

You have to answer this question according to your expectations. New generation players, those who know the Call of Duty series only with the battle royale mode, will not enjoy Land of War. This is an old-school shooter and reminiscent of the first game in the Call of Duty series. The maps are small, linear, and you cannot navigate freely. Each map is tied to a specific script, and you have to follow it (for example, a grenade always explodes when you pass the same point). It’s a formula that’s the opposite of modern shooters, so younger players are unlikely to enjoy the game.

But if old players want to go back to the old CoD days, Land of War will be one of the best options. It’s very easy to understand what you have to do, the story is gripping enough, and the gameplay is very fast. At times, you can really feel like you are playing the first game of the Call of Duty series. Of course, this game has all the bugs you can expect from an independent studio. AI is sometimes silly, some scripts work incorrectly, and sometimes there are bugs caused by the hitbox. Unfortunately, the game also does not have a save system that you can use whenever you want. It automatically saves at checkpoints like consoles.

If old players want to go back to the old CoD days, Land of War will be one of the best options.

Despite these shortcomings, Land of War still manages to deliver satisfying and enjoyable gameplay. These bugs apparently will be fixed with patches soon. If you want to go back to the good old days of shooters, Land of War is a very good option, and the sales figures will determine how successful it will be.
