Unless you buy a special bundle, the list of the stuff you get from a PS4 Pro box is short: A PS4, a DualShock 4 controller, earbuds and a couple of cables. But thankfully Sony has a lot of optional accessories for their consoles, they even license some of them. While not all of the items we will list here are mandatory, most of them will boost your experience; a few of them can even be considered a must-have for serious gamers. Headsets, chargers, thumb grips… Today, we picked our best choices for each category.

PS4 Pro comes with a set of earbuds that you can use for casual gaming, but they are not comfortable enough for extended use and do not offer a good enough sound quality for serious gamers. PlayStation Platinum Wireless Headset is probably the best headset you can buy for any PlayStation4 model for this price range. This wireless headset supports virtual 7.1 surround sound and 3D audio. The latter is a complete game changer. It rips you out of the real world and puts you into the game world. You can tell where a sound originates with terrifying accuracy. The design and the comfort of the headset are great too. Overall, this headset delivers a great performance for its $130 price tag. A must-have for all PS4 owners.
PowerA DualShock 4 Charging Station
There is more than one option when it comes to charging stations for PS4 but we decided PowerA DualShock 4 Charging Station is the overall best choice for most people. You can charge two controllers with this at the same time. It is much cheaper than Sony’s DualShock 4 Charging Station so its build quality is worse but it still delivers a solid performance for its price. It is also licensed by Sony so you do not have to worry about frying your controllers’ batteries. Ultimately, a must have for everyone that has more than 1 controller.
Logitech Driving Force G29 Racing Wheel
If you love racing games, you know that they suck on keyboards and controllers. You need a real driver set. Logitech G29 is among the best in this class. The leather-topped wheel is really comfortable and easy to use. The pedals are well-built. G29 also features dual-motor force feedback which enables you to feel how your car slides in corners and is being slowed down by the road; it lets you feel how the car is struggling against you. All in all, G29 is one of the best racing wheels that supports PS4.
Sony PlayStation VR
While not the best VR set in the market, PlayStation VR offers a great value for its price. It features a 5.7” OLED 1080p display that supports 90Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. It has Sony’s signature design with black, white and blue colors and looks beautiful. It is also compatible with all PS4 models but the Pro version provides an enhanced VR experience. The only con is that the package does not contain the other essential VR parts so you will have to buy them separately.
Razer Raiju PlayStation 4 Controller
When it comes to using third-party controllers on consoles, people either swear they are way better than the original or just ignore them and stick with their original ones. The first one has been usually the case until now, but Razer wants to change that. Razer’s Raiju PlayStation 4 Controller is PS4’s first “pro” controller and is a serious upgrade over the classic DualShock 4. It adds four extra programmable buttons, four control buttons, and textured thumb grips. Its design is reminiscent of an Xbox controller and it is way more comfortable. Its textured thumb grips and the textures on the handles provide a much firmer grip. But all these awesome features come with a really high price. It is almost 3 times more expensive than the DualShock 4 and it doesn’t support wireless connectivity. But if these two points are OK for you, Razer Raiju is a real upgrade over the DualShock 4.
SteelSeries Siberia 200 Wired Gaming Headset
SteelSeries made a name for themselves for being truly aimed at serious gamers, sponsoring various E-Sports tournaments worldwide. Siberia 200 is one of their efforts to put out an affordable and comfortable gaming headset for budget gamers and we can say that it is a success. The eye-catching and versatile designs are SteelSeries’ specialty and they proudly display this on Siberia 200. The headset is really comfortable but since it’s a budget choice, the general built is not as strong as it can be. General sound quality is impressive for its price and the bass is surprisingly strong despite being aimed at gamers. The microphone quality is average at best; it is omnidirectional and versatile but its recording frequencies are high so high-pitched noises such as wind can be heard by other players. Overall, for its price, Siberia 200 provides a better experience than most other budget headsets on the market.
Sony DualShock 4 V2
Everyone knows and loves the DualShock 4 for its significant improvements over the DS3, but did you know Sony released a V2 for DS4? It may seem like a normal PS4 controller at first, but there are a few adjustments. First off, now you can see your light bar’s color more easily with the LED strip at the top of the touch-pad. Plus, the thumb grips are more durable. If you already have a working DualShock 4, an upgrade is not worth it but if you are planning to buy a new one, V2 will be your choice.
Seagate 2TB Game Drive
Storage space is really important for gamers on all platforms, but with the new gen games being much bigger, it became an even bigger problem. Especially if you’ve bought a console with 500 G or 1 TB space, you can run out of space pretty quickly with games being around 50 GB nowadays. Seagate’s external hard drive solves this. You simply plug it in via USB and after a few configurations on your console, you will have 2 TB more storage on your PS4 and it performs exactly on par with PS4’s internal storage. You will not have to delete your favorite games anymore.
PlayStation 4 Camera – Sony Camera V2
PlayStation 4 Camera is not an essential accessory on its own. Some games rely on it but not many. It is a great camera for streaming purposes but you cannot use it with a PC or a Mac. The camera also supports facial recognition and voice command features. The thing that makes this accessory a must is a VR set. If you wish to have a complete VR set, PS4 Camera is must since it is the device that makes depth perception possible and plays a role in the track of the Move controllers’ movements. Also, its versatile design lets you place it wherever you like.
Sony PlayStation Move Motion Controllers
Another separate accessory you have to buy for a VR experience on PlayStation 4. Move controllers are the controllers you will use while playing VR games on PlayStation 4. They are extremely precise and built excellently. Apart from their built-in gyroscope, they include four face buttons on the front along with the PS and Move buttons, the Share and Options buttons on either side and a single trigger on the backside. Just like the PS4 Camera and PS4 VR, you need Move Controllers to have a complete VR experience on PlayStation 4 but it is worth it. If you have never played a VR game, you will be amazed.
Conclusion:
Whether you already own a PS4 Pro and want to upgrade your experience with accessories or want to buy a PS4 and wish to boost your experience as much as possible from the start, we believe these additions will make your gaming sessions on PlayStation 4 much more enjoyable.
