Project London
One of GTA V’s most ambitious mods, Project London aims to re-create a city that resembles London in GTA. Complete with landmarks such as Heathrow Airport, Wembley Stadium, St. Thomas Hospital, and more, this work-in-progress mod is set to be the open world London GTA game fans have wanted since the series went 3D.
Grand Theft Space
Another hugely ambitious work-in-progress mod, Grand Theft Space takes players into the great abyss in the sky. The mod is fairly early as of yet, but it currently features a fully functional space shuttle, 11 planets, three moons, and a very small amount of alien life. This highly promising mod has the potential to be a great sci-fi sandbox and is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Dragon Ball Script Mod
This is a fun and silly mod that lets you tear through Los Santos as Dragon Ball’s own, Goku. Reign chaos from the ground or the sky as you unleash Destructo Discs, Ki Blasts, Kamehameha, and more.
Natural Vision Remastered
This incredible visual overhaul mod brings Los Santos to life like no other mod. Natural Vision Remastered is the tireless product of Razed, the mod’s creator, who put an incredible 1200 hours, including dozens of hours of research into Los Angeles, into this mod. Gang and Turf
The long-supported (and still updated) Gang and Turf mod aims to re-create the gang war mini-game from GTA San Andreas. Jet Pack
Pretty straightforward. This mod simply gives you a slick jet pack with which you can cruise through the skies of Los Santos and avoid all that pesky traffic. A simple but fun mod.
Dragons V
Dragons V is the best of the various mods that let you fly dragons around Los Santos. Another one of JulioNIB’s pieces, Dragons V does exactly what you’d expect: it lets you fly dragons around the world of GTA V, throwing fire balls, picking up pedestrians, and generally creating chaos. This mod requires the dragon models from Quechus13, which can be found here and here.
LSPDFR
An evolved version of the once-popular Police Script Mod, LSPDFR is a more involved endeavour that is similar to GTA IV’s mod. How do I install mods in GTA 5?
First of all, Rockstar has clearly stated that you will never be banned for using mods in single-player, but using mods online is a different story. Modding GTA Online is sure to get your account banned. Don’t risk modding Online, it won’t end well.
Now, on to the basics of modding GTA V. Unfortunately, modding GTA V isn’t as simple as modding games like Skyrim, and there are a few things you’ll need before you can get going.
Script Hook V
The first thing you’ll need is the latest version of Script Hook, which can be found here.
Once downloaded, take files from the zip file and place them into your GTA V directory. On Steam that can be found in “Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V”.
Community Script Hook V .NET
Certain script mods will require you to have both Script Hook and Community Script Hook V .NET, which allows scripts written in .NET language.
This can be found here. Simply copy the .ini file into the game’s directory.
LUA Plugin
Some mods require the LUA plugin on top of Script Hook. This can be found here.
Grab the zip file and put both the folder called “scripts” and the file called LUA_SDK.asi into the game directory.
Map Editor
The Map Editor is needed for mods that add new areas, like islands or buildings. You can also freely add and remove your own objects. The Map Editor can be found here.
Open IV
OpenIV was very popular for GTA IV and is now being developed for GTA V. There are a number of varied applications for OpenIV so we won’t list them all here. Read through the instructions of each mod before using it. OpenIV actually makes changes to game’s files so we suggest you backup the game files before you start.
